Local Liberal Democrat councillor Hazel Hodgson will lead a protest march this Friday (21st) against plans for a power station in Old Hutton.
Plans were rejected by South Lakeland District Council back in January, but modified plans have been submitted by the developer.
The march starts at 3.30pm at Old Hutton Primary School and will see the protestors walk down to the proposed site and back up to the school field.
Hazel is also calling on local residents to make their views heard before the planning committee meeting in October.
Hazel said: “These plans are still completely out of keeping with a quiet rural area between two national parks.
“The developers from London obviously have no idea how special our landscape is, and are just trying to make a quick buck.
“It’d be great to see a huge turnout on Friday.”
Local MP Tim Farron will show his support by joining the community at the start of the march.
Tim said: “We know from doing our march in protest of Northern Rail earlier this summer that those in power sit up and take notice when they see a whole community standing up against them.
“On Friday, the local community will be sending out a load and clear message that the site at Old Hutton, just half a mile down the road from a primary school, is not an appropriate site for this development.”
