
A man has died after being crushed while cutting down timber near Penrith.
Emergency services were called to Newton Reigny, near Penrith on Saturday afternoon after the man became trapped under a five-metre log.
The man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
“The Coroner has been informed.”
