CFM Cash for Kids announce the four charity sports challenge finalists for 2018

A brand new and exciting grant funding initiative across Cumbria and South West Scotland was launched by CFM’s Cash for Kids in August, offering a number of qualifying disadvantaged and disabled groups for under 18’s the chance to receive thousands of pounds for their club.

After a month long application window, four local organisations have now been selected to compete in the charity fundraising challenge. All monies raised over the next month for CFM Cash for Kids will be granted back to each of the clubs to buy new equipment, sports kit and to update facilities. This will include up to £1000 match funding, £1500 for the lead fundraiser and up to £2000 in special awards for evidence of best teamwork, best fundraising idea, best PR and best social media interaction.

Wigton Community Amateur Boxing Club, Cumberland Football Association, Cumbria Wheelchair Sports Club and Carlisle Reivers Pan disability football club are the finalists for 2018, battling it out to raise as much as they can for their own clubs. Each group will be raising funds via internal and external events, bucket collections, raffles, bag packs and other inventive ways to ensure that they get the most out of this intense fundraising period.

The aim of this grant round is to support groups in the area who need additional funding and it is hoped that it will help to combat an increasing culture of grant dependency. CFM Cash for Kids are really excited to be working with the four participating groups as they each require vital funds for equipment, capital resources and to secure the future of their clubs.

Dale Blaylock – representative of Wigton Community Amateur Boxing Club explained to CFM Cash for Kids – “This really will secure our immediate future and even further boost the club’s profile and will bring new equipment, projects and various other ideas for how we can use the money to benefit our children. Our Club has been hanging over the threat of closing for years, the fact you have backed our club has really given us a boost we needed.”

The groups now have until Monday 15th October to raise funds and will be visible across the county supporting Cash for Kids in the hope to walk away with thousands to invest in to their club.
