TransPennine Express Class 185 Train

Train company TransPennine Express (TPE) is offering complimentary travel to members of the armed forces this Remembrance Weekend with this year marking 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Free travel will be provided on both Saturday 10 November and Sunday 11 November 2018 to any serving members of the armed forces, veterans, cadets as well as volunteers selling poppies, making it as easy as possible for them to attend any Remembrance Day events or collect funds on behalf of the Royal British Legion.

To be eligible for the discount, armed forces personnel should either travel in uniform or bring along a military identification card. Veterans should carry identification in the form of the MOD issued Veteran’s Badge.

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director for TransPennine Express commented: “We are proud to be able to support our armed forces by providing free travel over the course of this very poignant weekend marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. This is the least we can do to honour those that have made the ultimate commitment to our country.

“Many members of our team have served in the armed forces so it is fitting that we show our support in this way.”
