The A66 from Penrith to Durham is currently closed in both direction due to two incidents involving HGV’s overturning in the high winds.
The A66 will remain closed at this section whilst the vehicles are recovered.
The A66 will reopen to cars when it is cleared. It will remain CLOSED to high-sided vehicles for foreseeable future for reasons of safety.
There will be delays and congestion in and around these areas. Please plan your journey accordingly.
Police and partner agencies are also dealing with reports of at least three trees down across the county.
