Local residents from the Eden area hosted their 38th annual over 60’s lunch this week at Inn on the Lake on the shores of Ullswater. The event saw 90 guests enjoy 3 delicious courses in the hotels award-winning Lake View restaurant on Wednesday 5th December.
The lunch was first started back in 1980 by Jean Smith who introduced a swear box to the Hikers Bar, now known as Ramblers Bar, which is situated in the grounds of the hotel. Since then, local residents of the Eden area have continued to raise money through their annual street party in July with the hotel continuing to cater for the event at a special rate.
The festivities were in full swing, with the help of pupils from Beaconside C of E Primary School, years 3, 4 and 5, who entertained the guests with traditional carols and contemporary Christmas hits which proved to be a crowd pleaser for all.
Inn on the Lake’s General Manager, Gary Wilson said “We are always proud to host this yearly event for our local residents and we hope they enjoyed their afternoon with us. On behalf of all the staff at Inn on the Lake, I would also like to thank the talented children of Beaconside Primary School who brought merriment and cheer to all our guests!”
