Two men from Manchester have been charged following investigations by south Cumbrian officers into an incident in Kendal.

The charged men are:

  • Billy John Carl Johnson, 27, of Reginald Street, Eccles, Manchester.
  • Stephen Ayrey, 26, of The Gardens, Eccles, Manchester.

Both men are charged with possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply and handling stolen goods.

Johnson faces a further charge of dangerous driving.

The charges follow an incident where a car was in collision with a police car and two parked vehicles in Kirkland at about 11.45am on Friday.

Both charged men remain in police custody ahead of an appearance before Barrow Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Mon Dec 10).

Detective Sergeant Andrew Lamb said: “Cumbria Constabulary takes all drugs crime seriously.

“To tackle drugs offences we need the help of the public and any information, no matter how minor it might seem, could help.

“Please contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
