Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life in Carlisle Castle Veterans Lunch Club

During the summer Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life in Carlisle Castle launched their first ever Veterans Lunch Club.

The Club was part of the centenary events and exhibitions organised by the Museum as part of their Lest We Forget project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The club organiser, Learning and Outreach Officer Jules Wooding is delighted with its popularity which she puts down to bringing ex service personnel of all ages together in a comfortable and friendly environment where they can chat and share their stories over a light lunch.

On Monday 17 December the Club will meet for the last time this year at their Christmas Celebration enjoying a two course Christmas lunch for £3 per person. Funding from the Heritage Lottery ends in February but due to the success of the Veterans Club and the support of local supermarkets the project will continue.

If any veterans would like to come along to the Christmas Lunch a few spaces are still available but must be booked by 14 December please call the Museum on (01228) 532774. For further information on the project please visit the Museum’s website www.CumbriasMuseumofMilitaryLife.org
