A MAN who flouted a court order by going to his mum’s house for Boxing Day lunch has been sentenced by a district judge.
James Walter MacDonald, 33, was handed a restraining order in March this year. This was imposed to prevent him from visiting West View Walk in Workington after a housing association expressed concerns about damage caused at his mother’s address.
MacDonald breached the order three times as 2018 wore on – and then flouted it a fourth time yesterday. He had been invited to attend his mum’s West View Walk home for a Boxing Day lunch, and accepted in the face of his “very limited resources”.
But police were tipped off about his attendance, went to the address and arrested MacDonald as he ate.
He admitted the order breach when he appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning. It was stressed that there had been no distress caused by him, nor violence used or damage committed.
After hearing mitigation, District Judge Gerald Chalk imposed a community order comprising a 12-month residence requirement, 35 days’ rehabilitation and an 18-week night time curfew. “You must abide by the new community order,” he told MacDonald, of Harrington Road, Workington. “If there are any further screw-ups, as I have made it clear to you, you are likely to be banged up.”
