A woman in her 80s has died following a fatal road traffic collision on Sunday (6 Jan) in Kendal.

The collision occurred at around 2.30pm in Windermere Road in Kendal, at the junction with Green Hill.

A Volkswagen Polo collided with 81-year-old Maureen Harrison from Kendal who died shortly afterwards.

The driver of the vehicle involved and other occupants were uninjured.

The road was initially closed for an hour to allow emergency services to provide medical attention to those involved, then remained closed until 6.30pm while a forensic collision examination was carried out at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who has not already been contacted and who was in the area of Windermere Road and Green Hill at around 2.30pm to contact Cumbria Police on 101 quoting incident number 106.

Also, if any motorists have dashcam footage of Windermere Road between 2.20pm and 2.35pm to preserve the footage and contact Cumbria Police.
