Allerdale Borough Council will be holding a series of briefings in February for prospective election candidates for the upcoming local elections.

As well as discussing the detailed processes and timetable for the elections, officers will also talk about the role, duties and responsibilities of councillors and the training and development that will be on offer.

Information packs will be available for all candidates including nomination packs, timetables and Electoral Commission advice and guidance.

Diary appointments can be booked on the night for nomination form checking and submission and officers will be available to answer questions during the briefing and afterwards.

The dates and venues are:

  • Monday 11 February, 6pm at Wigton Market Hall,
  • Tuesday 12 February, 6pm at Allerdale House, New Bridge Street, Workington
  • Wednesday 13 February, 6pm at the Quaker Meeting Rooms,  Keswick

Elections for Allerdale Borough Council’s 49 seats, as well as for local town and parish councils, will be held on 2 May 2019.

All potential candidates, elections agents, local political parties and parish councils are welcome to attend but are asked to contact the Electoral Services team at Allerdale Borough Council: [email protected] 01900 702550 by Friday 8 February to register their interest as the venues have restrictions on numbers.

Additional sessions may be arranged if there is sufficient interest.
