At 7:31pm yesterday, Thursday 21 February two fire engines, one each from Carlisle East and Carlisle West, were mobilised to a report of a flat fire on Chatsworth Square in Carlisle.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival, firefighters requested assistance from two further fire engines. One each from Brampton and Longtown were mobilised.
“The fire involving a first floor flat was well alight and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera to fight the fire.
“After the fire was extinguished, two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke and salvage operations commenced on the ground floor.
“Crews were on scene for over three hours.”
