Man, 70, hurt in Cleator Moor burglary

Police are investigating a burglary and assault which occurred at around 8pm on Wednesday 6th March at the Civic Hall and Masonic Centre, Market Square, Cleator Moor.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Four youths have gained entry to the building and have caused damage to the value of £1,000 to four CCTV cameras. A 70-year-old male from Whitehaven was also assaulted during the incident but did not sustain any injuries.”

There are descriptions available for three of the four suspects.

A white female, aged between 13 and 15-years-old, 5ft 6ins, of slim build with long black hair which was in a pony tail at the time. She was wearing a black hooded jacket, blue skinny jeans which were ripped at the knees and pink trainers.

A white male, ages between 13 and 15-years-old. He is described as slim, 5ft 5ins with light brown short hair. He was wearing a blue zip-up jacket and black joggers with a white stripe down the sides, black trainers and carrying a black backpack.

A white female, aged between 13 and 15-years-old. She is described as medium build, 5ft 6ins, long dark curly hair which was tied up in a high pony tail at the time of the incident. The suspect was wearing a puffer jacket with a hood, grey joggers and black trainers.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may recognise the description of the suspects.
