At 2:25am today, Wednesday 13 March, two fire engines from Carlisle East and Carlisle West were mobilised to a building fire on Townhead Road, Cotehill.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Lightning had struck the roof and chimney of the house.
“Fire crews isolated the gas and electricity supplies and made the property as safe.
“Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
