At 4:34am today, Friday 5 April two fire engines from Carlisle East and Carlisle West attended Ennerdale Avenue in Carlisle.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The kitchen of a domestic property was found to be well alight on arrival of the fire service who utilised four breathing apparatus, positive pressure ventilation and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
“One casualty, suffering smoke inhalation required medical treatment.
“Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes.”
