At 11:23am today, Saturday 20th April, two fire engines from Lazonby and Penrith attended reports of a fire in the open at Plumpton near Penrith.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews found a fire involving an area of heathland measuring approximately sixty metres by twenty metres.
“Firefighters used one hose reel jet, two beaters and two water back packs to extinguish the fire.
“Crews were on scene for approximately two hours.”
