Police have received a number of reports of shed/garage/vehicle burglaries in the Kendal area on between the 27th and 28th April.

Suspects have targeted a number of high value goods including road and mountain bikes and power tools.

Police have received the following incident reports:

  • Log 59 of the 28th April 2019 – Burglary of a shed with three road bikes taken on Underley Avenue
  • Log 55 of the 28th April 2019 – Attempted burglary of garage on Burneside Road
  • Log 82 of the 28th April 2019 – Burglary of a garage with 2 mountain bikes taken on Windermere Road
  • Log 87 of the 28th April 2019 – Burglary of a garage with a road bike taken on Kendal Green
  • Log 61 of the 28th April 2019 – Theft of power tools from a motor vehicle on Hallgarth
  • Log 187 of the 28th April 2019 – Attempted break in of motor vehicle on Windermere Road
  • Log 200 of the 28th April 2019 – Theft of Sat Nav/cash from motor vehicle on Windermere Road

Police would ask people to be vigilant and review the security of their properties and outbuildings.

Security advice includes:

  • Keep property out of sight and locked in a secure storage container or chained to the chassis
  • Consider installing an alarm, immobiliser or CCTV.
  • Mark your property. Visible markings may deter some criminals. There are also high-tech solutions like DataTag, Smartwater or SelectDNA for marking more expensive equipment.
  • Register your property with national property register, Immobilise. This can assist in returning any equipment that is stolen.
  • Report suspicious activity.

Anyone with information on these thefts is asked to contact police on 101 or report via the Cumbria Police website. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
