At 6:28am today, Sunday 5 May, three Fire Engines from Workington, Whitehaven and Maryport attended Leeches Terrace, Flimby to reports of a building fire.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival Firefighters found a heavily smoke logged property caused by food within an oven.
“Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire, one casualty was rescued by fire service personnel suffering the effects of smoke before being treated by the ambulance service.
“All appliances were engaged for fifty minutes.”
