Police have confirmed a woman found unconscious in Workington town centre in the early hours of today has been identified.
Police were called at 1.54am after the woman was found on Pow Street.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The woman, 38, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where she is in a stable condition and is responding to medical treatment
“Officers were called after she was found unconscious with a head injury.
“Investigations are ongoing to establish how she suffered these injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Craig Smith said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in or around this area between 1am and 2am this morning, who may have seen or heard anything, to contact us.”
