Penrith Building Society members raise over £1,000 for local hospice

Members at a local building society have raised more than £1,000 for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice by saving money.

Each year Penrith Building Society make a cash payment to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice equal to 0.50% gross interest on the average total balance held in all Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice Affinity accounts. In 2018 savings in those accounts generated a dividend of £1,014.98.

A Penrith Building Society spokesperson said, “As a mutual Society we pride ourselves on looking after our members, but we are also committed to supporting charities and good causes that in turn, improve the lives of those in the local area. Our Members who choose to save in one of our Affinity accounts help us to support these wonderful local charities.”

Natalie Bingham, Corporate Relationship Co-ordinator said “A huge thank you to Penrith Building Society and the customers who save in their Affinity Account, as this really is a tremendous amount of money. It will go a long way to support people with life limiting conditions across Cumbria. Thank you!”
