Time to celebrate! Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK celebration of volunteering. The main aims of the week are to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers.
The annual campaign takes place 1-7 June every year and sees charities and voluntary groups get together to recognise the contribution volunteers make to our communities every day. It is an opportunity to celebrate volunteering in all its diversity
There are currently 36 volunteers volunteering their time across Impact Housing Association, sharing skills or gaining new ones in a number of roles. All week volunteers have been sharing ‘a day in the life of’ on Social Media and sharing why volunteering is important to them.
The majority of volunteers are working within their Social Enterprise. Some carry out deliveries and collections for their furniture service and enjoy meeting new customers, others like to be in the office assisting with sales.
Impact have a number of volunteers who share their creative flair and up cycle furniture. Whatever volunteers choose to do Social Enterprise would not be here without the fabulous support and commitment that they receive from them.

On Friday 7th June Impact Housing Association held a celebration and awards ceremony.
Volunteers were presented with a certificate of achievement to say thank you to each and every one and recognise their invaluable and diverse contribution to Impact and the community.
Running up to the awards ceremony staff had the opportunity to vote and nominate volunteers for 5 categories. The categories and the winners are:
- Most Entrepreneurial – awarded to Helen Hodgson
- Most Committed – awarded to Adam Weir
- Best Customer Service – awarded to Robin Wise

- Couldn’t be without – awarded to Michael Graham

Dave has volunteered at Impact Furniture Services for 10 years, he started volunteering to assist the local community at the time of the 2009 floods, he stated that he enjoyed helping the community so much that he decided to stay on and volunteer full time, he also likes to ensure staff and volunteers are well fed!
Sarah Boyle, Head of Social Enterprise said: “All of our volunteers are invaluable and we are very privileged to work with such a committed group of people. Some volunteers move into work and some volunteers decide to stay with us to continue to share their skills and mentor new volunteers. I would like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of them past and present.”
If you are interested in meeting new people, working with great staff, sharing your skills and learning new ones ,have some time to spare and would like to volunteer….. then Impact would be delighted to meet you.
