Last summer saw the successful creation of The Secret Garden, an accessible, wildlife friendly, walled garden located in a hidden corner of Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery funded by the Postcode Local Trust.
Thanks to a grant of £4,000 from the Cumbria Community Foundation, Tullie House have now appointed a new Secret Garden Facilitator, Louise Stoddart. Louise will deliver three weekly gardening clubs in the garden this summer.
The Secret Garden club sessions will include a range of light, sensory focussed gardening tasks. There will be opportunities to build new creative installations and learn about the amazing plants and wildlife in this welcoming space.
The Secret Garden club sessions include;
- Family Gardening Club
- Over 55’s Dementia Friendly Gardening Club
- Accessible Drop-in Gardening Club
Lindsey Atkinson, Community and Young Person Coordinator said “The Secret Garden has been looked after and maintained by a fantastic group of volunteers who are part of the Working Well Project, Carlisle and Eden. They have done a terrific job after a busy first summer, working with several local community groups.
Right now, we’re preparing the garden for another summer of activity and after the support of participants in the local Give a Day to the City initiative, the space is looking better than ever with bright bushy blooms and refreshed facilities.
“We ‘re looking forward to meeting new people for another busy, fun-filled summer in the Secret Garden this year.’’
