The Cumberland, the region’s largest financial institution and the 10th largest building society in the UK has today announced a new three year sponsorship deal with Carlisle United. The agreement sees The Cumberland continue as sponsor of the club’s Schools and Community Programme and also retain the naming rights to the Community Stand until the end of the 2022 football season.

The Schools and Community Programme provides local primary schools and community groups with free tickets for home football matches during the season.

Jenny Anderson, commercial manager with Carlisle United, said: “Our relationship with The Cumberland gets stronger every year and their support of the Schools and Community Programme is a demonstration of how two strong, local organisations can come together to the benefit of the wider community.

“We see first-hand what it means to the children and groups who come along to games, as part of the scheme, and how much enjoyment they get from being able to attend with their friends in what is a safe and comfortable environment.

“The extension of this partnership for another three years is a wonderful and extremely well received commitment from The Cumberland and we’re looking forward to developing and growing the programme even more through what we all hope will be a successful period for the club.”

Andrew Gordon, Head of Relationships at The Cumberland, added: “We are delighted to be able to continue supporting Carlisle United and the great work the club does in the local community. As two local organisations we’re both very keen to give back to the region we live and work in. The Schools and Community Programme does just this by providing thousands of free tickets to local primary schools and community groups in the area, offering a memorable experience to those taking part and helping the club develop its next generation of fans.”

Blues fans can help support the club with a savings account from the Cumberland. The ‘Cumberland Blues’ account donates 1% of the total average balance to the club, as well as offering a range of other benefits including a discount in the club shop and a free prize draw.

Tickets for Carlisle United home games continue to be available from the Cumberland’s Fisher Street branch in Carlisle.
