People from Wigton and beyond are being invited to see all that’s on offer at the town’s top sports and fitness site.

Wigton Rugby Club & Sports Club is throwing open its doors this Sunday to people to come and try the array of sports and activities which call the Lowmoor Road site home.

The club’s Community Open Day will give people the chance to find out more about rugby, hockey, cricket, squash and the other fitness activities which go on at the club. As well as showcasing the club, other organisations and businesses in the town will be in attendance to give people the chance to learn about the wide range of things on offer in the community.

A club spokesman said: “We have so much to offer at the rugby club site; a wide array of sports, a fully-equipped gym and many social activities. We’re proud of what goes on at our club and we want to share that with the community.

“If you’re interested in finding out more then please come down to the open day and have a look around. As a not-for-profit organisation we need the support of the community to continue and we hope to see as many people down as possible.”

Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day, along with fun activities such as laser tag and face painting making the event suitable for all the family.

The open day runs between 1pm and 4pm but the clubhouse will be open from 11am to show the opening of the Rugby World Cup.
