Stobart Group’s Kate Willard chairs the Women in Property seminar

Carlisle Lake District Airport hosted the launch of an exciting new initiative to boost and support women in the world of work across Cumbria and the Lancashire yesterday.

Kate Willard, Director of Partnership Development at Stobart Group, chaired a straight-talking seminar, talking about her career trajectory and the airport’s development, following the launch of commercial flights on 4 July.

The audience included professional women and a few ‘forward and modern thinking’ men from across Cumbria and Lancashire. The event was organised by the recently formed Women in Property (WiP) in Cumbria.  The seminars aim to provide a forum for professional development, bringing people together to share views, gain knowledge and meet like-minded people.

The next breakfast seminar will be in Penrith on 22 January 2020when Jo Lappin form Cumbria LEP will be presenting.  Before then, the branch have a site visit in the calendar on 13 November atWardell Armstrong’s Archaeology Laboratory and ‘Christmas Drinks’ in Lancaster on 11 December  Please visit the WiP website for further details.

Kate Willard, Director of Partnership Development at Stobart Group, said: “I was delighted to launch the Women in Property breakfast seminar series at Carlisle Lake District Airport, which continues to establish itself as a business hub for the Cumbria and Lake District region. It was great to see so many enthusiastic and inspiring women and men from across the region. I would like to thank Women in Property and wish them all the best for the rest of the series.”

Jayne Garbutt, WiP committee member, added: “As a group, we were delighted when Kate agreed to launch our breakfast events. Kate’s journey from leaving school, travelling widely across Europe, to spearheading the opening of Carlisle Lake District airport is inspirational and well worth hearing! The airport is a great asset to the area and the team there are just as passionate about its future success as Kate!”
