A MAN will be sentenced next month for assaulting a fellow taxi passenger by biting his nose during an incident in Whitehaven.
Simon Burckett, 39, pleaded guilty to one charge of unlawfully wounding Paul Gearing during an incident on March 29 this year.
Burckett was said to have submitted a basis for his guilty plea.
In this document, he states that he had acted in self-defence during a violent incident inside a taxi, but then went beyond what was reasonable.
Judge Nicholas Barker adjourned the case for the preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report.
Burckett, of Holthouse Road, Tottington, near Bury, is due to be sentenced atbthe crown court on December 17.
In the meantime he was granted bail, one condition being that he must not contact the complainant in the case, Mr Gearing, in any way.
