Alston pensioner denies sexual assault allegations

A 77-year-old man from Alston has appeared in court charged with six-sexual offence accusations.

Thomas Roland Wallace gave his address as Park Lane, Alston, Cumbria, when he appeared at the North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle today (TUES)

It is alleged that between August 1st and 31st 1981 at Alston, he indecently assaulted a woman aged-over 16 years of age, there are four-allegations between these dates.

Then between August 20th and 23rd 2010, one allegation at Alston that he committed a sexual assault on a female, that he intentionally touched her and the touching was sexual, when she did not consent. There is a second similar allegation between August 22nd and 31st 2010.

After the charges were read out to Mr Wallace he pleaded not-guilty to each allegation.

Magistrates said their sentencing  powers were insufficient and sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court to be heard on December 18,  he was granted unconditional bail until that date.
