Free parking on Saturdays in the run up to Christmas starts this week in Penrith and Appleby.
Shoppers and visitors are being given the seasonal boost by Eden District Council for its off-street car parks during the run up to Christmas.
The free parking will be available all day this Saturday in time for the Appleby and Penrith Sparkle Day events and will continue during December up Christmas on the 7th, 14th and 21st..
The Penrith car parks covered are:
- Bluebell Lane
- Drovers Lane
- Mansion House
- Princes Street
- Sandgate
- Town Hall
- And in Appleby the Broad Close car park will be free.
Yvonne Wells, economic development support officer with Eden District Council said: “We hope that by offering free parking in the Council’s off-street car parks during this busy period we can do our bit to encourage people to shop local this Christmas.
“It is our way of supporting local businesses and the vitality of our town centres in the run up to Christmas with an extra incentive for people to explore the excellent retail and food offer in our towns.”
