A Carlisle man has appeared at the North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle charged with the rape of a girl under 16, the accusations are over 27-years-old.
Harold Nicholson, 70, gave his address as Holywell Crescent, Botcherby, Carlisle, he faces four allegations of rape in Carlisle on various dates between, April 4, 1992 and March 31, 1993. April 1, 1993 and March 31, 1994, April 1, 1994 and March 31, 1995 also between April 1, 1995 and November 26, 1995.
Court papers show the allegations are against one girl.
No plea to the allegations was entered today (MON).
As these accusations are ‘indictable only’ they have to be heard by the Crown Court in Carlisle, this is expected to take place on January 27, 2020.
Nicholson was granted conditional bail until then.
The alleged offences were brought to court under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.
