Local Alcohol and Drug support charity CADAS have teamed up with Kendal College to bring a Bake Off challenge to town. They are on the lookout for Cumbria’s ultimate baking champions to crown winners of The Great Kendal Charity Bake Off. With a range of categories from professional to amateur and vegan to junior there’s something for everyone… as long as you know your soggy bottoms from your showstoppers!
If you fancy showing off your signature bake you could be in with a chance of winning some incredible prizes including; a KitchenAid Mixer; an overnight stay in a Scandi Lodge, a Segway experience, an Escape Room Experience plus many others. To enter, register via Trybooking.co.uk by 27th January and bake your showstopper to be judged at Kendal College on Friday 31st January 2020. An expert panel of judges will be looking for even bakes and eye-catching cakes which will then be available to purchase after the winners have been announced.
CADAS enables positive recovery through one to one talking therapy, group and peer support sessions and wellbeing workshops. CADAS supports adults, children & young people as well as family & friends who are affected by addiction. Lakeland are the main event sponsors for this year’s Bake Off. By taking part in this event you will be helping to raise awareness and funds which enable CADAS to continue their vital work supporting as many people in Cumbria as possible.
Julie Oram, CADAS Kendal Coordinator said “We are thrilled to be bringing The Great Kendal Bake Off back for the second year. It’s a great opportunity to get creative and have fun while supporting a fantastic charity. This year’s event is being backed by a number of different groups and businesses who are all keen to show their support for the important work we do, we are particularly grateful to Kendal College and our main event sponsor, Lakeland.”
The Kendal College Catering Department recognises the importance of CADAS and hopes to raise awareness of substance misuse within the catering industry as well as address the impact of this on young people.
“Kendal College is delighted to support this event. We are also involved nationally with Hospitality Action, which is a very similar organisation. We look forward to seeing how creative the local community are and tasting some lovely homemade cakes and biscuits on the day!”
