A celebration event was hosted by NHS Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) on Thursday 5 December. It recognised the 55 practitioners who have completed training designed to help teams working with children and young people in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
The AMBIT approach has been rolled out across Lancashire and South Cumbria through a training programme committed to supporting the children’s and young people workforce.
Adaptive Mentalisation-Based Integrative Treatment (AMBIT) is an approach designed to support teams who work with people presenting multiple and complex problems. The framework and tools promote relationship building, adaptive learning and the sharing of emerging evidence and best practice.
Healthy Young Minds commissioned this training to create a shared model of practice between teams who work with adolescents who present with high levels of need but find it difficult to make use of conventional forms of help. Healthy Young Minds was formed from the Children and Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Transformation Programme, which was established to deliver a five-year programme of transformation work across Lancashire and South Cumbria. The overarching aims for the Transformation Programme are to improve the resilience, emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
The AMBIT Local Facilitator Training is a five-day course provided by Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. Every person who takes part becomes an instructor and commits to delivering four training sessions for other frontline staff during the year.

“This training is a brilliant opportunity to introduce the AMBIT approach and share these learnings across the local area.”
A total of 55 professionals completed the Local Facilitator Training course during 2019. These people are employed across health, local authority and the voluntary community and faith sector.
Ruth added: “We’re so pleased that so many people have completed the training. We’re committed to supporting the delivery of more training sessions from our newly qualified instructors.”
Free AMBIT training is available for members of the children and young people’s workforce across Lancashire and South Cumbria. The training is tailored to the needs of organisations; this can range from a taster session of one to two hours, a half-day or a full-day course.
