Cumbria County Council has announced its latest apprentice recruitment drive with 40 new apprenticeship opportunities set to be advertised from next week.
New apprenticeships will be available across a wide range of areas, including ICT, construction and engineering, project management, business administration, social care and more.
The latest apprentice recruitment drive will see the county council’s Apprenticeship Team tour the county to share details of the range of opportunities available across Cumbria. The team will visit Barrow, Penrith, Carlisle, Workington and Kendal during National Apprenticeship Week which takes place from 3 to 9 February 2020, and an additional event will take place in Whitehaven on Tuesday 11 February. Full details can be found at cumbria.gov.uk/apprentice and on the Cumbria County Council Facebook page.
Throughout February, the county council will also be sharing the success stories of its current apprentices in a series of online videos which aim to give prospective apprentices an insight into working for one of the county’s biggest employers.
Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning, said: “Last year, we were recognised as the best apprentice employer in the North West for our efforts to recruit and support hundreds of apprentices across a wide range of professions.
“We’re really proud of our commitment to apprenticeships and we’re excited to be able to offer more high-quality roles to people of all ages and backgrounds.
“Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to earn while they learn and the overwhelming majority of our apprentices go on to secure permanent employment with the council or move on to further training. Now is a great time to join us.”
The 40 new apprenticeship opportunities will be advertised at www.cumbria.gov.uk/apprentice from next week and throughout February.
