A KENDAL man accused of alleged child sex crimes is to stand trial in front of a jury later this year.
Thirty-year-old Ryan Toal appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today (WED).
During a hearing in front of Judge Peter Davies, Toal pleaded not guilty to six charges.
Two of these allege sexual activity with a child; one alleges the sexual assault of a child; one alleges attempting to sexually assault a child; and one alleges causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. All of these charges date back to the mid-2010s.
A timetable for the progress of the case was outlined by prosecutor David Bentley.
Toal‘s trial at the crown court is due to start on July 20 and, it is estimated, will last around a week.
In the meantime Toal -who was represented in court by lawyer Sharon Watson – was granted conditional bail by Judge Davies.
