North Cumbria man charged with child grooming offences

A man from the village of Heads Nook has appeared in court accused of attempted “grooming” of a girl.

Andrew Trollope, 59, appeared at the North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle today (TUES) it is alleged that between April 4 and May 2, 2019 being an adult aged over 18, he is accused he attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child aged under 16, for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, in Carlisle.

Then between 22 and 27 April, 2019, an allegation that he intentionally arranged/facilitated the commission of a child sex offence in any part of the world namely;  Wolverhampton.

A further allegation in Carlisle that he attempted to cause/incite a girl aged 15 or under to engage in sexual activity, not reasonably believing she was 16 or over.

The fourth allegation is from April 26, 2019, in Carlisle he attempted to meet a girl under 16 years-of-age following grooming, if done, would have involved the commission of alleged sexual activity with a child under 16, of a relevant offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Trollope gave his address to the court as Cairnbridge Barn, Heads Nook, Nr Brampton.

There was no-plea indicated to the allegations,  he appeared in court smartly dressed in a dark grey suit and white shirt and tie, the Magistrates sent the case to be heard at Carlisle Crown Court on March 23, he was granted unconditional bail until then.
