Police were called at 6:20pm on Sunday 15th March to the report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A5087 at the Bardsea Crossroads near to Ulverston.
It involved a Black Vauxhall Corsa.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The driver and passenger, both local to the area received serious injuries.
“The road was closed for several hours whilst a forensic collision investigation and recovery was carried out.”
Anyone with any information or anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, is asked to call PC 1639 on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting log 180 of the 15th March.
