Workington RNLI has been called out to a vessel in difficulty off the coast of Workington.
The volunteer crew launched all weather lifeboat Dorothy May White at 11.40am today, Tuesday June 30.
The vessel, which had one person on board, had suffered engine failure off Salterbeck.
The Dorothy May White arrived on the scene and coxswain Stephen McAllister said: “We carefully assessed whether establishing a tow was the best course of action to rescue people in danger.
“In the absence of a more suitable vessel, and given the risks related to the vessel’s condition and location, it was determined that towing was the best course of action for all involved in this instance.”
The stricken vessel was towed to Harrington Harbour where it was handed over to Whitehaven Coastguard for mooring and a debrief.
The volunteer crew arrived back on station at 12.30pm.
