Allerdale House, Workington

There will be some changes to Allerdale Borough Council services over the Easter weekend.

Customer services

The council’s customer services team will be contactable through 0303 123 1702 and the web chat function on www.allerdale.gov.uk until 5pm on Thursday (9th April). The customer service department will then be closed over the weekend and reopen at 8.45am on Tuesday, April 14.

All customer contact centres/area offices will remain closed for face-to-face queries and appointments.

Customers can still report issues, such as fly-tipping, missed bin collections and dog mess, through the council’s ‘Report It’ section on the website and the myAllerdale mobile app (available on Apple and Android devices). Bin collection calendars can also be viewed online by going to: https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/bincollections/.

Those wanting to apply for one of the Government’s business support schemes will still be able to over the weekend through https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/coronavirus/coronavirus-business-grants-claims/.

Bin collections

Bins due to be collected on Good Friday, 10 April, will be collected as normal. However, with effect from Easter Monday, 13 April, bins will be collected one day later throughout the week – with those which would normally be collected on the Friday (17 April) collected on the Saturday (18 April) instead. Collections will be back to normal from the following week, commencing Monday 20 April 2020.

The suspension of garden waste collections due to the coronavirus remains in force. Glass, cans and plastic, paper and cardboard, trade waste and household waste collections are, at this time, being collected as scheduled.

Emergency support

If you need to contact the council out of hours, in an emergency, for something like homelessness support, please call 0303 123 1702.

There is also an emergency support service for people at high risk of becoming seriously ill, as a result of COVID-19, and who do not have support available from friends, family or neighbours. The emergency telephone support line, operated by Cumbria County Council, is 0800 783 1966. Or you can email your request for help to: [email protected]. This service is being operated between 10am and 2pm over the bank holiday weekend (Friday to Monday inclusive).
