Police have today charged two people with the murder of a man who died in Carlisle on Sunday.

Blair Dixon, 24, of Welsh Road, Carlisle, and Alfonso Bitton, 25, of Eldon Drive, Carlisle, are both due to appear before the city’s magistrates’ court this morning.

They are both charged with the murder of John Cingelis, 37, of Brantwood Avenue, Carlisle.

They are also both charged with wounding another man with intent.

Charges were brought in the early hours of this morning following a round-the-clock investigation launched on Sunday.

Officers continue to appeal for anyone who has information to come forward.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who has any kind of footage, such as mobile phone footage, dascham footage or doorbell camera footage, that could be relevant, to make contact.

Detective Chief Inspector Jenny Beattie is the senior investigating officer in the case.

She said: “I would like to thank those members of the public who have come forward so far.

“We would continue to appeal for anyone who has any information or any footage that may help the investigation to make contact.”

Anyone with information or footage should contact officers on the below number or email address. If they have footage they will be provided with a link.
