Two walkers have been rescued after running out of water on a Lake District mountain.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue were called out to Scafell at 5.39pm on Tuesday to two exhausted males who were out of water and unable to continue.
The team were fatigued from attending multiple incidents so the team leader requested helicopter assistance from Coastguard Rescue 897.
Rescue 897 attended and lifted both walkers off the hill, allowing mountain rescue members to avoid another ascent on foot.
The pair were flown to the valley floor, discharged, and taken to the Wasdale Head Inn to await a taxi back to their car in Eskdale.
A spokesman said: “Many thanks to Maritime and Coastguard Agency (R897) for dealing with this incident, and to The Wasdale Head Inn for looking after the pair until their taxi arrived.”
The incident lasted two hours and 24 minutes and involved 21 team members.
