Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery has released a survey to understand the public’s feelings about visiting the museum when it reopens.
Like many organisations, Tullie House Museum had to very quickly take the decision to close its doors at the start of the pandemic. New government guidelines have now confirmed that museums can open after the 4th July. Managers recognise that when the doors are reopened, visitors will be greeted with a changed environment. Ongoing restrictions and public health guidance will dictate the museum’s activity and inform some of the ways in which it will have to work.
Andrew Mackay, Director of Tullie House Museum is keen to welcome visitors back: “We can and will offer all of our residents and visitors a great cultural experience and after months of lockdown provide a much needed boost to wellbeing.”
The new survey, which should take about ten minutes to complete, asks a range of questions to help gauge how keen people are to re-enter cultural spaces.
“We’d really like to know how we can make people feel more safe and comfortable when they visit Tullie House,” says Caitlin Olney, Marketing Manager at the museum. “We’ll definitely be following all government guidelines and safety policies, but if there’s anything else we can do to make sure people can enjoy our spaces again, then we’d like to do it if possible. We’d also love to know when people will be ready to enjoy our fabulous events, talks and workshops again.”
As a charity, Tullie House Museum’s ability to fundraise and generate income has been severely compromised by the impacts of the current pandemic, as with many cultural organisations. With restrictions continuing over the summer months, Tullie House is considering various options to raise income and ensure a successful re-opening.
