NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Ulverston office have nominated local charity Ford Park Community Group, to receive a donation of more than £3,000 from a national £1m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual’s Head Office.
In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £1m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time.
To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative network of local Agents. Consisting of circa 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a handful of local charities to receive a share of this fund.
This donation will allow the Ford Park Community Group to manage and maintain the Park, keeping it safe and accessible for the community. It will also help vulnerable members of the park’s volunteering group to re-join the team once it is safe to do so.
The social distancing measures in place to manage the spread of Coronavirus have highlighted the importance of quality green space within walking distance for communities. Parks and green spaces provide essential physical health and mental wellbeing benefits, particularly during these unprecedented times when our movements and social interactions have been limited.
Natalie Edmondson, Agent at NFU Mutual in Ulverston said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities. Ford Park Community Group is making a wonderful difference to our community in these challenging times, and we are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”
“Ford Park Community Group are delighted and very grateful to be a recipient of NFU Mutual funding at this challenging time. The funding will contribute to the essential upkeep of Ford Park for the community. Once it is safe to re-start, it will support our Socially Inclusive Volunteering (suspended due to COVID-19). Our Socially Inclusive Volunteering provides huge benefits in terms of improved mental and physical wellbeing. Equally, our volunteers are an essential source of support, helping us manage and maintain the Park, keeping it safe, accessible and attractive for community use.”
