Naomi Morgan, Cranstons Product Developer

Cumbrian food champions Cranstons are pleased to announce the recent recruitment of Naomi Morgan to their product development team. Naomi a former bakery and café owner who relocated with her family to Penrith last summer has the enviable task of creating more delicious recipes in the Cranstons development kitchen.

Cranstons General Manager Martin Jones said: ‘’We are thrilled to publically welcome Naomi to the business, she is already working closely with our butchers and cooks using their expertise and her extensive recipe experience to develop exciting new products. Naomi and our expert kitchen team have already successfully launched a tasty range of fresh soups and a delicious vegetarian spiced Indian potato pie. There are lots more exciting ideas in the pipeline.’’

Cranstons have a strong track record of creating award winning products, regularly picking up both Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Gold Awards and Q Guild of Butchers Smithfield Awards for their butchery and delicatessen products. Martin explains why Cranstons felt the time was right to recruit a dedicated product developer ‘’In a very competitive market place it is now more important than ever to offer customers a unique product range and to make sure we add new products to meet changing food trends. We want customers to come to us with confidence that they will find delicious freshly made recipes that you just won’t find in the supermarkets’’

Prior to working for Cranstons Naomi owned a café and bakery based in Rutland. She brings to Cranstons a wealth of bakery and cookery experience having developed recipes for both her own business and for several big ingredient companies.  Naomi, her husband and two children chose to relocate to Cumbria last summer, they love the outdoors and having holidayed frequently in the area wanted to make it a permanent home.

After selling her business and relocating North Naomi was looking for a role which could further develop her passion for great food, she says;  ‘’I wanted to work for a company that really cares about using the best local produce and looking after the environment. Cranstons has an amazing team of skilled butchers and cooks that I really admire. When we were on holidays we used to always visit the Food hall and stock up on delicious sausages and the best bacon I’ve ever tried. I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw Cranstons were looking for a product developer.”

Naomi tells us she is currently working on an exciting range of ready meals, cooked fresh by the kitchen team from scratch using Cranstons local produce and whole ingredients. She is also busy trialling a new vegetarian sausage roll which combines spinach, feta, fresh dill, mint and bulgur wheat.

Naomi added: ’’I am really excited about my new role, working with such a dedicated skilled team and quality local ingredients is every product developers dream job.  I want our customers to continue to feel great about the products they are buying, and for the kitchen to feel proud creating them.”
