Sovereign Chemicals have been showing support to their local NHS at Furness General Hospital by donating a regular supply of personal protective equipment (PPE), keeping front-line workers safe in the battle against Coronavirus.
Bay Hospitals Charity, which coordinates donations to Furness General, has already received a two-month supply of PPE aprons from Sovereign, who will be providing regular donations to the value of £1,500 per month for at least the next three months.
Alan Yates, Warehouse and Safety Manager from Sovereign Chemicals, said, “Having seen the local press about the shortage of PPE at Furness General, we didn’t hesitate to make contact with Bay Hospitals Charity to help purchase what they needed.
“Should the hospital have sufficient PPE, Sovereign would be pleased to make a monthly cash donation to Bay Hospitals Charity, to look after our community and our outstanding workers on the front line.”
Heidi Bowron of Bay Hospitals Charity in Barrow said, “We are so grateful to Sovereign for their generous donation, which will help us to ensure the safety of each and every colleague working in our hospitals. I’m pleased to say that we now have sufficient stocks of PPE, and the ongoing funding from Sovereign will be used to support staff and patients on the front-line wherever the need is greatest.
“It’s been an incredibly difficult time for everyone these past few months, but our local community here in Barrow really has gone above and beyond to support us and keep us all safe. Thank you.”
