Story Homes is pleased to announce that it has now begun works on site at its new housing development in Penrith, ‘Brougham Fields’.

The development, which is located on Carleton Road, will comprise 149 high quality two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, and 44 of these properties will be delivered as affordable homes for local people.

The housebuilder is currently in the first phase of site setup, which includes laying down the infrastructure, roads and sewers. The first homes at the development are set to be released in autumn this year, with the new show home anticipated to be completed in early 2021.

Fred Story, Chairman and CEO of Story Homes, said: “The past few months have been challenging for those within the construction industry, and we had only just broken ground at Brougham Fields when the country was placed into lockdown.

“We are now seeing the green shoots of recovery – our existing sites are performing well, our subcontractors are delivering and our sales rate is consistent which is why we are able to restart our build programme at Carleton earlier than anticipated, and at a quicker pace than we hoped.

“As a Cumbrian-headquartered business we are committed to giving more people across the county access to high quality homes. This development will not only improve choice across the local housing market but will also provide the much needed kickstart to the local economy that is required following the pandemic – sustaining jobs for subcontractors and supporting local businesses and supply chains.”

As part of the new development, Story Homes will make a number of contributions to the local community in Penrith, with the housebuilder pledging to pay over £670k in education contributions and over £225k in highways improvements and travel plans.

With well-proportioned layouts, the homes at Brougham Fields will allow modern, open-plan living, offering lots of space inside and out. Each home will have a high specification throughout that includes a fully integrated kitchen and many other features as standard; such as fencing, turf, patios and bi-fold doors to name a few. The beautiful exteriors will incorporate stone, brick and render, making the street scenes of the development unique.

Located in the market town of Penrith, Brougham Fields is surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Lake District and Eden Valley. The development also has excellent transport links – it is close to the A66 which links to the M6 motorway, and Penrith train station is just a short drive away.
