Mitchells Sunday Market

Cumbria’s biggest indoor car boot is relaunching in Cockermouth on Sunday the 6th September as ‘Mitchell’s Sunday Market’, with a later start time and the inclusion of additional new local producers.

This exciting development follows a lengthy Covid-19-related closure. “The last few months offered us the opportunity to rethink the direction of Mitchell’s Car Boot,” says Sunday Market coordinator, Ann Cummings. “We had previously spoken to stall holders and browsers and their feedback strongly suggested that a later start time would be welcomed. We have also decided to rename the car boot, ‘Mitchell’s Sunday Market’ as we think this perfectly describes our impressive mix of sellers.”

From Sunday 6th September Mitchell’s Sunday Market will kick off at 9.30am (stall holders to set up from 8.30am) and close at around 12.30pm. Entrance is a very reasonable £1.00 per adult, children can come for free and as always, there’ll be plenty of free parking.

“Our new Sunday Market will offer a lovely Sunday morning family activity for visitors near and far,” continues Ann. “The mix of car boot sellers, local food producers and talented crafters means there will be something for everyone and of course our much-loved Fairfield Restaurant, rated by farmers as one of the best in the North of England, will be selling hearty full English breakfasts, sausage, bacon, and egg butties and chips.”

Regardless of the weather, Mitchell’s indoor Sunday Market will be open and able to accommodate stall holders and browsers. Health and Safety will be paramount with social distancing in place, where possible, and regular sanitisation of surfaces. Visitors and stall holders will be asked to take all necessary precautions including wearing face masks and making use of hand sanitisers.

Mitchell’s Sunday Market would like to invite interest from new stall holders, so if you’ve got a product to sell or if you would like more information then please get in touch with Ann Cummings on 01900 822016.
