Carlisle Magistrates Court

A man previously living at an address on Carleton Road in Penrith has appeared in court and pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and having no-insurance.

Ricky Lee Wayne Murphy, 23, gave his address today (TUES) as Greenlane, Carlisle.

Magistrates in Carlisle were told how on May 22 officers witnessed a Volkswagen Bora vehicle doing a u-turn and then parking up on Prescott Road in Carlisle.

Murphy the driver admitted he was a disqualified driver and was not insured, the court was told he was moving the car only a few metres from a friends driveway.

He was banned in 2019 for 36-months and has been banned from driving on at least five-occasions the court was told.

Magistrates left the court to discuss sentencing options, after twenty-minutes they returned to court and told Murphy he would be sent to prison for 12-weeks, disqualified for 48-months and pay a victims surcharge of £128 with prosecution costs of £85.

There was no-separate penalty for the no insurance offence. He was told he completely disregards the law and had a number of disqualified driving offences.
