Three fire engines and a water bowser attended a fire involving a quantity of waste on the landfill site at Flusco near Penrith.
Fire crews were called at 4:48pm, yesterday, Sunday 27 September.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters used two main jets, a hose reel, a light portable pump, a compressed air foam branch and on-site machinery to extinguish the fire.
“Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours and a half.”
