St Georges Walk in Kendal closed for four weeks from the 2 November
The Environment Agency and contractors, VBA are undertaking ground investigation works at St Georges Walk in Kendal as part of the data gathering work needed for the £76million Flood Risk Management Scheme.
These ground works will help to determine the location of key services such as the sewer and water networks and will help inform the final design of the flood scheme which when complete will reduce the risk of flooding to 1,480 homes and 1,100 local businesses across the catchment.
In order to safely undertake this work, the Environment Agency has worked with Cumbria County Council to close St Georges Road for the duration investigative works approximately four weeks. A temporary diversion will be in place.
Stewart Mounsey for the Environment Agency said: “Understanding the location of key services is very important when developing the final designs for the £76million flood risk management scheme in Kendal.
“We appreciate the understanding of Kendal residents while we undertake this work.
