Paul Rose

A TV Presenter, Expedition Leader and Polar Explorer has been announced as a new Patron at Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.

The local charity has announced Paul Rose as their new Patron. Earlier this month Paul visited the children’s hospice to meet staff and find out more about the vital care, support and compassion provided to local children and young adults with life limiting illnesses.

Paul Rose explained, “I am delighted to be Patron for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.

“These exceptionally challenging times are hard for us all. But the vital work of Jigsaw has been unreasonably affected as in this COVID-19 period they have lost 70% of their funding. This is devastating and has led to unwelcome cuts being made, redundancies having to be made, and if this continues there is a real worry for the future of the hospice.

“In this demanding period where every penny counts, we all have to be thoughtful where we focus our energies and resources. As Patron of all the Jigsaw activities I look forward to helping to bring awareness and recognition of their essential efforts. But at the moment I’m highly focussed on the funding crisis.”

Patricia Livsey, Chief Executive at Jigsaw, explained “We are delighted to welcome Paul as a Patron at Jigsaw. Our Patrons play an important role in promoting the vital services we provided to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses from throughout Cumbria.”

Jigsaw is the children’s hospice for Cumbria. From Whitehaven to Appleby, Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle, Jigsaw provides unique care and support to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses. Jigsaw’s care is provide in a home from home setting and each young person’s care is personalised towards their own needs.

As key workers, both the clinical and support staff teams at Jigsaw are here for the local community. The hospice is open and doing all it can during these times to continue to provide care and compassion to those in need, whilst following strict guidelines. The hospice is here for the local community and still supporting the NHS.
