Local businesspeople, traders and crafters across Allerdale are being invited to be part of a special virtual Christmas market this year.
Allerdale Borough Council will be hosting an online festive market as a way to showcase businesses and the amazing goods and services on offer in the borough.
The council is calling on businesspeople in the area to take part and have the chance to showcase themselves to potentially thousands of people throughout December.
It is anticipated that the event will start from Monday, December 7 and will be hosted on the Taste Cumbria Facebook page and www.visitallerdale.co.uk.
The initiative is open to all types of business, from market traders to shoe shops, hairdressers to pubs and takeaways to toy shops.
It’s free for a business to be involved, all they need to provide is:
- 50 to 100 words about their business – not forgetting the business name
- Information on their Christmas offer, deal, discount code or anything else they want people to know about
- An image, video or link to go with the offer
Anyone interested should send the information to the council’s business services coordinator by email on [email protected]. The deadline for content is Thursday, December 3.
Cllr Mike Johnson, the council’s deputy leader, said: “We want to showcase how the brilliant businesses in Allerdale are getting in the festive spirit and give people another chance to shop local this year. We look forward to seeing the fantastic range of businesses who want to be involved.”
The virtual Christmas event builds on the success of the council’s virtual market initiative which has offered a platform to showcase the goods that can be bought from the traders affected by the closure of the council’s markets in Keswick, Workington and Wigton.
